Optical Identity, commissioned by the Singapore Arts Festival 2007, and performed by Cryptic and the T’ang Quartet. Cryptic was resident in Singapore for four weeks creating Optical Identity with later performances at the Edinburgh International Festival, Alicante International Music Festival and around Scotland.
Cryptic has performed at Tramway since 1994. A unique performance space with an international reputation, the former tram shed and transport museum was converted into a performance space in 1989 for Peter Brook’s Mahabharata and developed further when Glasgow was City of Culture 1990.
In 2002 as part of our co-production with Supermusique, Montreal we toured Each … and every inch as part of the UK …. OK Festival. UsineC, a converted factory, programmes innovative performance and has been home to Carbone14, Chant Libre and Ex Machina.
Cryptic’s first visit to Riga to work in co production with the Latvian Radio Choir. Black over Red performed as part of the European Month of Culture and the Homo Novus Festival in Riga before the Choir then came to Glasgow to perform at Tramway.
