Sara was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, but soon escaped to the bright lights of Glasgow where she studied for a Degree in English Literature at Glasgow University. Following her graduation Sara worked for a student charity, teaching English, Drama and HIV/Aids awareness to young children and families in South Africa. On her return to Britain she studied for a post-graduate degree in Cultural Management and graduated from Northumbria University in 2004. Since then she has worked as Communications Officer for one of Europe’s leading creative production agencies: Forma Arts and Media and as Marketing and Communications Manager for The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland.
Sara is passionate about theatre and is currently Vice-Chair of Strathclyde Theatre Group. She also works in a voluntary capacity as a marketing and fundraising advisor for other small theatre companies in Glasgow. Sara's love of performance and controversy has led her to appear in many challenging theatre pieces in the past including leading roles in a production of Sarah Kane’s Blasted in Scotland in 2010 and John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt in Canada, also in 2010. Sara is a keen Director and recently directed a production of Brian McAvera’s Picasso’s Women for Strathclyde Theatre Group at the Ramshorn Theatre. Sara has recently become involved in film-making and shared a Best Screenwriting Award (Half-Cut Student Film Festival) for her role in the devised film Waste: Art by Andrew Dow.
