Journeys and Memories - About

Journeys and Memories takes us on a journey from wartime Europe and America, to contemporary Romania, and back in time to 17th Century Italy. Staging live music with video, light and movement gives a multi-layered dimension to the performance.

Often playing off score and moving about on the stage, string quartet Kuotet perform Grammy-award-winning Different Trains by Steve Reich, Romanian István Márta's Doom A Sigh and Allegri's Miserere (pre 1638), originally a choral setting of Psalm 50, but performed here in a new transcription for string quartet.

The musicians become part of the choreography with dancer Claire Pençak as the melodies combine with dramatic imagery and lighting to create a unique interpretation of the pieces.

Presented by Cryptic and Kuotet in a co-production with the Tron Theatre, Glasgow.

“… An achievement worth seeing, hearing and feeling…”
