The Paper Nautilus explores the beauty and rich biodiversity in the deep underwater realms of our planet, including the scientific phenomenon of bioluminescence, through a partnership with Lux Biotechnology. Composer Gavin Bryar’s dramatic cantata is scored for soprano, mezzo-soprano, two pianos, six percussion and is entirely concerned with the sea’s depths, its mysteries and its science. The libretto is by contemporary poet Jackie Kay and Etel Adnan.
