Sail is a live performance by artist Shankar Saanthakumar, featuring a sound sculpture and a kinetic replica of his body, guided through space by the vibrating currents of dream logic.

Fascinated by the transformation of matter – from gas clouds, to planets, to bodies – Saanthakumar imagines this process in reverse. Sail takes the form of a sci-fi vessel, where the body becomes both sail and ship, launching not from orbit, but from within The Art School. With a background in architecture, he begins each project through intuitive sketching, later integrating custom software and digital design. Through this, he explores perception, embodiment and the feeling of mind-body (dis)connection – using non-human systems to reflect on what it means to be human.
