In September 2020, we launched Sonic Bites, a sensory series of audiovisual appetisers presented fortnightly online for 24 hours. We wanted to offer a lunchtime escape from emails and online meetings to invigorate and inspire. We presented 40 artists including five new works plus rare content from Cryptic’s existing archive over a five-month period. Sonic Bites was created in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic, encouraging artists to develop work specifically for screen rather than video or stream a ‘usual’ live performance.
