Ricochet is an interactive sound and light installation by musician and composer Paul Russell. Built from a custom control surface, 24 incandescent bulbs and an octophonic speaker system, the work centres on eight algorithmically generated bouncing balls that trigger distinct pitches and lights as they strike the ground. Emerging from grief, Ricochet evolved into a living composition where structure and emotion intersect – always led by curiosity and play. Experienced by one person at a time in total darkness, audiences activate and shape the piece, controlling rhythm, gravity and intensity to create a uniquely responsive audiovisual encounter that is both intimate and expansive.
