Supported by the British Council and delivered in partnership with the Guimarães Rosa Institute as part of the UK–Brazil Season 2025–26, this international collaboration brings together artists from Scotland and the Brazilian Amazon to exchange ideas and develop new interdisciplinary work.
Two Cryptic Artists, Tom Scholefield (Konx-Om-Pax) and Sonia Killmann, have been invited to collaborate with Amazonian artists Renata Chebel and Nelson D in Belém, Brazil.
The artists will take part in an artistic residency from Tuesday 31 March to Saturday 11 April, working together to explore new approaches to sound, image and immersive performance.
The residency will culminate in a new live performance at Cultural Center Casa das Onze Janelas on Saturday 11 April, combining music and immersive visuals created and presented by the artists.
From Tuesday 10 March – Wednesday 6 May 2026, Belém will host Amazônia Imersiva, a large-scale 360° audiovisual experience dedicated to contemporary Amazonian art, at the Casa das Onze Janelas Cultural Center.
